My Friends Are Cooler Than Your Friends

I consider myself pretty lucky with the group of friends I've acquired over the years. They are all so different, and I feel like I get inspired by each and every one of them in different ways.

One of them is Maria Bertosh, whom I've known since high school. She is an incredibly talented self-taught artist. Her pop-surrealistic art is full of hidden meanings and personal messages. Even though some of her paintings are of a darker nature, they are all done in bright juicy colours that immediately grab your attention.

Last weekend was her second solo show, Caution: Work in Progress, at thisopenspace in Chinatown. Every time she has a show, I'm always amazed at how much thought she  puts into everything from the playlist to small decor items like drink cups!

The event was such a blast! I got to hang out with some of my favourite people, have a few bevies and support my friend in her creative endeavour. I decided to play the creative part and spiced things up a bit with emerald lipstick and a somewhat edgy outfit.

If your walls are feeling empty, check out her website www.mariabertosh.com for some awesome prints. She also has pillows for the sweetest dreams and graphic tees if you prefer to wear your art. I love supporting local artists, and in Maria's case, also an amazing friend who I've watched grow over the years into the person she is today.

Ok, enough of this gooey sh...ow of emotions, peep the event pics and outfit details below!
