Red & White for Canada Day Long Weekend
Last weekend Jacob and I went to Penticton for Canada Day long weekend with our friends, as we've done every year since high school. This was the first year when the weather was less than ideal – it was rainy, windy, with temperatures more fitting for end of October than middle of the summer. It was a blessing in disguise though, since we had to be more creative in our activities. We discovered a pool and hot tub in the hotel we’ve been staying at for years, as well as a little herb garden outside, where we helped ourselves to some mint to make mojitos. We also went on a wine tasting tour and since I planned my outfit like a month in advance, I wasn’t going to let the weather bully me into changing into pants. The pictures look much warmer than it actually was – the wind was so strong, I thought I’d fly away. I went with a white and red ensemble and didn’t realize I was basically dressed like a Canadian flag until I got fully ready and looked in the mirror. Needless to say, it was fitting for the occasion.
This trip is always such a blast! I get to hang out with my closest group of friends and indulge in all kinds of treats for a couple of days. The Okanagan Valley is also so beautiful, and it always makes me feel like I'm someplace far far away. I already can’t wait for the next year!
